What breed is this?

Okay, I know this is a weird question, but is there a difference between a sex-link and a red star. A red star is a sex-linked chicken right? Does she look like a red star? When I got her they said she was a golden sex-link.

Thanks in advance :D

I've got 2 cats, Dyllen and Star. I have 17 chickens; 3 BLRW, 3 mutts, 2 EEs, 2 White Rock roosters, 1 RIR, 1 White Leghorn, 1 Red Star, 1 Golden Campine, 1 unknown hen, 1 Partridge cochin, and 1  Golden Polish. I also have 1 Swedish/Black Indian Runner with her three ducklings.

She looks like a red sex-link to me. Red Star is just another name for that; they're the same thing :) And I think the term gold sex-link can be used interchangeably with the red. Someone with more experience feel free to correct me on that last part if I'm wrong.

Game warden of the crazy preserve. Inmates include: EE's, RIR, BSL, BO, SLW, Welsummer, Exchequer Leghorn, blue/black Wyandottes, BR's, Ameraucana's, and Icelandics <3 Plus an adopted brown turkey who is broody and must be part cobra, part goose :P

a gold sexlink is just a light version of a red sexlink, usually using a buff rooster. There are also some hatcheries that sell "brown sexlinks", same thing, just using different parent breeds.

Your hen is a Sexlink, hatcheries have named theirs red stars, cinnamon queens, ISA browns, etc.

Yeah, that's what I was asking. I was wondering if a red sex-link and red star are the same thing or not. 'cause what I've seen makes it look like they are the same breed. Thanks :D

you can think of "Red Star" as a brand name, she is a red sexlink. wink.png
