Setting Eggs on 2/26 (now with pictures)

I'm on day 20 myself, I see quite a bit of movement when I candle. I'm worries because my thermometer decided to be 2 degrees off in the middle of incubation and I had an internal egg spike of 103 and some drops to 97, just unsure of how long. Exactly why I keep 2 thermometers going, but it's still freaking me out. They are still moving, I see veins. The air cells were pretty bad when they got here---but I only have 2 that did not develop veins. 3 of the shipped ones look like the cells re-attached, and I have 5 eggs of my own flock. That leaves me with 7 unsures, with flower shaped aircells

It's time to get a new incubator and digitemp for next hatch....

I have 13 so far. some others pipped. I have never had a hatch spread out this far, today is the due date and still have some trying. usually I am done by the due date. + I have one that has a crooked neck not sure what happened.

just took a gander.. got one pipped.. come on babies.. have 18 3 week old bantams that are noisy but oh so much fun.. one has imprinted to me i believe it will sleep on my chest as long as i let it

Well, so far this is not my best hatch ever. I know I had some temp issues this whole hatch first I couldn't keep the incubator warm enough, then the last half it kept getting to warm, not enough to kill them but, to warm....I didn't know when to expect them to hatch.

So far I have had one quitter, one zipped half way around then quit and died

, one was upside down in the egg and hand pipped the wrong end. I had to help it out, but it is ok, and I have two more that have pipped but aren't proressing. I do have 5 out of the nine hatched, healthy and adorable.
Sounds like everyone else is doing ok, though.

darn, hope the other two progress for you!

Thanks, Meshell. The last two did hatch out ok. I have seven cute little peeps. The first one to hatch is so cute!! They all have such nice chipmunk cheeks. This hatch was a bit disappointing considering the low fertility rate, but I was not all that surprised. I know I have to many hen for the one roo. The fertility rate just dropped off sooner than I expected after I turned all the Ameraucanas back out with the rest of the flock. Then losing the two at hatch. I am eager to try a hatch start to finish in my new incubator. It is much more stable than what I have been using. I was really impressed.

How about everyone else, how do you all feel about your hatches?

Did not post on hatch day, but had a great turn out.

I set 2 EEs, 1 Welsummer mix, 4 OEGBs and 24 Bantam Cochins on lockdown. I hatched all but the 4 OEGBs and one EEs. Not sure what happened there. Eggs were good on lock down.

Well, we waited and waited and waited on ours. None hatched. I broke them open to see what our status was out of 14, 7 fully developed, 2 partially developed, and 5 duds. Come to find out the night that my sister-in-law stayed at the house, and watched them the temp spiked at 110. It was the same night we took out the egg turner. Hubby put in HOT water from the sink, rather than just warm water, and we think that's what did it. Oh well. We have another 20 eggs, that we started today. Maybe we'll have better luck this hatch.

Congrats on everyone else hatches.

Oh and as for the Maran color genetics Just2Rosey was right. Mabhera, whoever sent you your eggs probably had a blue hen in with their black roo and hens, and that's why you got a blue or two.

I also had no survivors :( But I built a new incubator and am giving it another shot...so far it's going really well. The new ones are due on the April 4th.
