I have built my coop it is 6x5 with 6 foot high ceiling inside so I can stand it there to clean.  I build 4 nesting boxes and was wondering if 4 was enough for 6-7 chickens the outside run isnt finished yet but it goes under the coop which is raised and the entire thing has a roof over it.  I will post pics as soon as I am allowed !

thanks for advice

forum is great I have learned a lot already!

Who knew this would be come an addiction!  I currently have 13 hens and 1 large light brahma rooster. We also have somelittle ones but as I have learned here they don't count.  I have started building coops to Sell.  I have come up with a company name Olde Tyme Coops hopefully it works out!

Usually one nesting box will take care of four chickens so you have plenty.  Now you just need more chickens!

You have more than enough nest boxes.  Enjoy!

Ok nesting boxes check!  The next question is roosting bars.  I like the idea of putting chicken wire under neath it to keep them out of the poop and doing sand or pine have figured that out yet.  How much room do then need on them ??

I assume you want to put your roosting bars in the coop, it's according to where your boxes are to how much room you will have. The chicken will cram together anyway, once you get pictures up it will be easier to understand what you are working with. You can always use several bars staggered at different heights.

Lots and lots of chickens and still want more

You can see how I did my roost bars in the pics at my BYC page.  Just 2x4's with rounded edges set in some wooden brackets I tacked to the walls.
