I put the date on my calendar!  Thanks for doing this, Kim!  The only request that I have is that it doesn't start too early since several of us will be driving some distance to get there.

I think a full day would be better, it is also better to have birds to look at and compare, to get a much better idea about selection. Without being able to actually see the birds and compare against each other, it's harder to learn. Kind of like having a theory class and actually applying what you know.

Just thought i would chime in here on what we have done in this type of situation.

Here in Central Texas the Brazos Valley poultry club has a Lawn Show. This is an unsanctioned show and is limited to newcomers only.

We prefer that yo show only 1 or 2 birds and we try to keep it around 50 birds. You still fill out an entry form and the birds are cooped in just like at a real show.

We have this at a Members house ( he has lots of room).

  We have a lunch and a meeting of the club. While the meeting is going on the judge places the birds. When he is thru everyone is welcomed to talk to him or any of the other members who have been showing a long time. The judge explains the placings and can even talk about the breeding aspects of many breeds.

 This is a laid back type show and is intended to be a learning experience for newcomers.

While this may not be exactly what you are looking for you might consider some of the ideas.

 The class that Walt is going to do for us is set for March 25th. That is a Sunday.

Now...............What we need from those of you who plan to come is do yoy want a 1/2 day class, a full day or what? Do you plan to bring birds for evaluation? How many are coming????

I'm definitely interested in attending ... how do we/where do we send in our contribution towards the rental of the 4H Center? 

Since this is an easy location right off the Rohnert Park Expressway exit, there are also many fast food as well as restaurants in the area:  In N Out, Wendy's, Safeway (for sandwiches), and COSTCO, to name a few. 

With travel time in mind, perhaps starting around 9:30 or 10 a.m. until about 3 or 4 p.m. with a lunch break??  In that way, no one should be really driving in the dark coming or going???

Just some ideas/suggestions  .... thanks for organizing all of this !

BTW, the Marin Humane Society will have a "Chicken Care Matters" class on Saturday, March 24, 1 to 3 p.m. taught by  the Animal Place organization ... they're the main group that helped rescue 3,000 plus hens who were starving (no food for two weeks) from that Turlock egg producing factory (another 47,000 hens died)
