Hello!

I have been lurking here for awhile, but finally made the decision to get some chicks so I thought I would say hello and intoriduce myself.

I have 4 female chicks on order at the local feed store and they will arrive March 23rd. I am getting 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Easter Egger, 1 Golden Comet, and 1 Silver Laced Wyandott. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. :)

We live on 3 acres of heavily wooded land, so finding a flat spot is going to be a bit of a challenge but I think I know where I am going to put the coop. At least I know it will be shaded. lol I am going to convert the kids Little Tykes Playhouse into a coop and get a chain link dog kennel to keep the critters out. Unfortunately, we have coons, fox, coyote, AND hawks around here. yikes! Hopefully I will have it secure enough that they won't get to my girls. I do plan on shutting them in during the night.

I am reading everything I can to learn all about my little fuzz butts before they arrive. Can't wait to get the party started!

Current Laying Flock: 1 Silver Laced Wyandott (10 weeks), 1 Buff Orpington (10 weeks), 1 Golden Comet (10 weeks) and 1 Americuana (10 weeks)

Hello and welcome.  Sounds like you have a good setup.  I would consider

enforcing the chain link fence with hardware cloth or something similar.

Predators can and will dig under also.  welcome-byc.gif
