Celtic:  Yes I have those. I have her in a warm washcloth right now.  

So that goo is normal then?  I don't remember it with Fiona.  But the 2nd one I lost was like that.  :(  

 

I'm not sure this one will make it.  Labored breathing.

Erin, from a packaging situation, the only differences I am seeing between yours and Carole's box is that she loosely wrapped the eggs, loosely tapes them, and only uses bubble wrap.  Other than that, I have no clue.  I definitely saw night/day improvement in candling between your first two sets and this new set, though.  With the exception of our one precious egg on day 26, all the other ones from before had no defined air bubble and when you turned egg sideways, it disappeared.  These eggs have a clear defined bubble that moves along outer surface of shell when turned horizontally.

 

But it makes me wonder more about the egg itself and how strong that aircell is attached to fat end in the first place.  Are they more easily jarred off?

QJ, it will s*ck if this one does not make it, but sometimes when they don't turn right, it isn't meant to be.  You have at least given it a chance to make it.

Now I'm starting to get attached.  Oh good grief.  This one I'm hatching for a friend.  He may not get her now. lol.

The runnier goo inside can be left over moisture not lost during incubation. Know you have done the best you can with the knowledge you have and equipment in the house. They do breath oddly when first opened. Lots of rest and hands off.

As you can see I used an empty egg from a baby that hatched yesterday, but gives the idea.


Erin I will recheck these 3 in a bit. Two looked detached but still a bubble atleast. This is a huge improvement from enfore. Shipping waterfowl is nothing like shipping chicken eggs. They just don't travel the same or have the same needs.
