Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!! - Page 245

Marty, I will look up their hatch dates for today. Our son records them all in a spread sheet for me and we track by wing band number around here.

They have all the grass they want during the daytime as well as Mazuri waterfowl feed
At night each stall has water, oat hay, and Mazuri waterfowl feed.
In the daytime playpens there is any der bed box we fill with water for playing. We use a 3 gallon auto water jug placed into a restaurant size plastic buffet pan. We have three of them set up across the playpen. The pan allows for deep enough water for their heads, the water jug keeps them from running out quickly.

The two you are getting do not get starter Mazuri now as they have feather growth starting all over so I reduced the protein intake. They are on the larger pellet adult Mazuri.

We will begin offering oats and boss about Mid May to early June depending on feathering as to when we will start it.

Good luck Sue, I found an old clean rag or washcloth holds temp and humidity longer than paper towels for wrapping around eggs.

Went outside to check the girls this morning, and low and behold one of the 1st yr brooders either 1. new the baby was dead and cracked it open cause the shell is missing or    2. someone stepped on it while shuffling the eggs and busted it ....but there right outside the nest was a poor dead gosling...the are not due yet not until the next wk or so...but the poor thing had its little webbed feet and feathers.... hit.gif

It was sad!!!  It would have been a gray

Sorry Erin hugs.gif

Why don't sheep shrink in the rain?

Why is there brail at drive up ATMs??

Why are their floatation devices instead of parachutes in my airplain seat???

If a tree falls in the woods and my husband doesn't hear it, am I still wrong????

So sorry Erin, first year moms will bumble eggs and bust them while moving them about the nest. They roll bad eggs out of the nest, not bust them open if it makes you feel better. We took the eggs away from our first year broody girls, we had two trying to sit the same nest. They were fighting over the spot and the eggs weren't safe.

That does make me feel better, celtic.  But not about the baby..:(  Poor baby...  She must be getting to hot in the barn because every day she is moving all of them closer to the door.  Straw and all.  Good looking nest, but man that has to be alot of work.  They have to be getting close to hatch time with the development of that baby..  fl.gif  If anymore get broken though I will kidnap the remaining eggs and then ya'll will have to walk me through the hatching.....oh my!!!  I would be like a toddler...keep you posted!!
