Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!! - Page 79

When I candled last night I saw the goslings in the air sacks, this morning the eggs are rocking. When should I see some external pipping? I don't know if they have internally pipped as I am a newby and this is my first hatch ever for any egg type critter.

Littledear, maybe we will be mamas together. I'm glad you posted your list as I forgot to pick up chick starter. I didn't think I'd actually get any babies hatched out and now that all 4 I set are rocking I figure I will get at least one baby.

duckgirl89, did your eggs hatch? I'd like to congratulate the proud parents if so, they are sitting on eggs in the nest of eggs right now so with your 3, my 4 in the bator and the ones they will naturally hatch I'd like to let them know they have indeed contributed their genes to the goose population.

As you can see I am new to BYC. I found this forum while searching for goose info and have been lurking. After following this thread from the beginning I am now hooked! I didn't think I would be interested in incubating eggs, thought it would be complicated & to much trouble. But I must say after following this thread I might have to give it a try! Probably not till next year, however spring is just starting here so we will see how it goes.

We have just recently moved in to our dream house with a couple acres and a small barn. My goal is to get a couple horses but that will be down the road. However the barn has 1 small stall that is already set up for poultry and I have an order in for 10 African Grey goslings to be delivered May 16th! 

Technically this is not where I should be posting but you all are such a nice group, so helpful & encouraging to each other, I was hoping that as your eggs are hatching and your babies are going into the brooders maybe some of you would be interested continuing your hatchlings progress in a new thread I will be starting, Goslings, from the egg to nesting. (or something like that) It has been 30 years since I had geese so as far as my memory goes I am actually starting over as a total newbie! I have so many questions and even though my property is already laid out for what I want to do there are countless details that I need to work out.  

So, any takers? Any ideas on the thread title?

I think your title is fine!  I sure hope you love your African goose babies.  They are fairly popular around here.  I think we'd probobly take a look at your site, and its nice to know your such a fan of the geese.  Iain will be happy to know you like this thread so much!

My toulouse hatch time is approaching, Iain.  The egg continues to loose moisture (I'm cooling it 30 min a day, its helping speed up moisture loss) and I see movement inside when I peek w/ the light.  I hope it gets here ok.  Your toulouse eggs took 32 days, is that right?  I just want to have a better estimate than 28-32 days, if possible.  Seems reasonable to expect if we are both following Petes hatching plan, and all toulouses take about the same time, maybe mine will follow suit. 

It'll be my first goose hatching, unless sebs come faster.  (Celetic, any word here?)  I set the seb eggs, and the other smaller touslouse egg, the very next day after Erins Toulouse egg.  No sign of life yet in the new eggs, and if still none tomarrow (day 10) oiut they go.

The first toulouse is on day 23, and the sebs are day 22 (if we are counting the day they are set as day 1).  I it needs 31 days, then it won't be due until the tuesday after Easter.

No, i forgot.  I drew days 7, and can draw them tonight, to help me see when things move around.....
