Funny my largest hen lays the smallest eggs! Ha

Here she is! Her name is Queen Latifa (after the singer)baby pics and family 676.jpg

She looks very like my orpington  (what breed is she?).

 

Orpingtons are all feathers which is why their eggs are not as big as you'd expect.  But, depends what breed QL is .

 

Gorgeous girl though.

I have raised quite a few blue cochins and always keep a few on the lot for no other reason than they are so dang pretty. Cochins in general are not the best layers though..usually medium to small eggs at a rate of about 3 a week. Maybe 4 a week if she is feeling friskey.

If your Orpington has feathered shanks..she is a cochin.

Mine isn't a cochin, she is an traditional English Orpington smile.png

I got my first Cochin egg today, it was the cutest little brown egg with white speckles. I've had BOs, and their eggs were HUGE compared to my Cochin egg!
