Whoop whoop, hey duckgirl guess what!

Kate and Spoon both laid eggs today! I will post a photo tomorrow.

So now the question is when is the best fertility time? Will these first eggs be fertile or how long should I wait until I assume they are? Anyone know? It's my first season with geese.

Hi.  You'll have to wait until they are incubated or you put the eggs in an incubator.  After about 7 days you can candle the eggs to see if they're developing.

Thanks Pete, I am sending duckgirl 6 eggs so I guess I will send these along. The pairs are 4 yrs old and I know the ganders did their jobs last year with a high number of fertile eggs. I just wondered if the first one layed of the season would already have been fertilized. I have seen the females step up on the backs of the males but have not actually seen the deed take place. I'm usually at work so I figure I missed it.
