Tea Eggs

Today I tried making Taiwanese Tea Eggs for the first time and I gotta say, they are pretty darn tasty!

I only soaked mine for about 6 hours, so the flavor is subtle. I think if I soaked them overnight they'd have a stronger flavor. Very tasty, though!

Did you use the jasmine tea leaves or black tea... I have black but not the jasmine tea.

I used jasmine green tea because I happened to have some. I didn't have any star anise, though, so I went without that. I think you can make them with any type of tea you like, it just alters the flavor a bit in the end. I'm going to experiment in the future and see if I can tweak it a bit with different ingredients!

well what does it taste like???

If you were plowing a field, which one would you use? Two strong oxen or 1,000 chickens??

Erm ... it tastes rather like it sounds. Like a hard boiled egg soaked in soy sauce, tea and spices! Mine turned out yummy!
