Seriously injured toe...HELP

Thread Starter

My 7 month old Brahma is limping and standing on one leg. Examining her foot I can see that one of her toes is over double the normal size, warm to the touch, black spot on it, and instead of one long nail coming out the end of the toe....there are two separate short nails coming out.  I'm not familiar with Bumblefoot, maybe ingrown nail??  I don't know.....help please.

You could try treating it like bumblefoot.  There's a topical med you could try, instead of trying to find the pus pocket, if you want.  Or you could try Epsom salt soaks, or even just an antibiotic ointment.  You could trim the nail away.  Hard to say.  Even if you posted pics, it would be hard to see something that small well.  Good luck!

Did she always have the split toenail?

I'd treat it like bumblefoot.  I am just curious about the nail, though.
