My chickens have something that looks like this in their feathers:276

How to I get rid of it and prevent it?

Frontline or Ivomec Eprinex (not both at the same time) both work awesome. About 1/4cc of the Eprinex or 3-4 drops Frontline.

On the skin on the back of their neck. Sorry, I should've mentioned that.

Those are the 2 things I specifically tested myself on birds I got from auctions and swaps to see if they work. The morning of the 3rd day all bugs were gone.

How much does it cost generally and are their any harmful side effects?

I looked up Frontline and it is just a general company that sells pet meds and Ivomec Eprinex seems to only be for cows??

If you want something that's labeled ONLY for chickens you'll have to pay $40 for the Frontline Spray (which has the same identical ingredient as the Frontline drops). Very little is specifically labeled for chickens because pet chickens aren't big business. Almost everything used for chickens is off-label use. Just like when you take a sick chicken to the vet and the vet gives it some injections. The injections aren't labeled 'for' chickens specifically.

Could you dust with DE?

I tried using DE but it didn't help and is also very bad for humans/birds to inhale.
