I have a 10 month old welsummer hen, named Cocoa.

She has been normal today most of the day except she has been doing a repetetive 'caw' noise all day.

First time I noticed it this morning was after I let them out (and she practiced her crowing) I found her on the nest cawing

no egg came of it all day

next I found her under a bush doing the same thing

then in the middle of the yard while the others gathered around my feet for treats 20 feet away

when she saw treats she came running

since she is not tame I had to wait for them to get back in the coop this evening to catch her

she was a little easier to handle than she usually is

her comb got pretty dark as I carried her in, still cawing

I don't see anything down her throat

she did eat some treats but is not as interested in food as usual

so thinking this young and very healthy hen might be egg bound I brought her in and gave her a warm bath

I did not feel anything stuck or protruding

she doesn't appear to have prolapse

she cawed all through the bath

and is not in a crate after being towel dried

cawing away

she is obviously in distress

I see nothing wrong with her and feel nothing wrong in her belly or underside or vent area

any ideas?

warm bath was all the egg bound threads said to do so I tried it

help help help

I'm stumped

thanks
