Bantam Cochins are the best ones I have!!!!!!!!!   I love my splash cochins, they are always begging to go for a ride or for me to pick them uplove.gif   and they don't go very far from the barn, maybe 5 feet from the barn but that's it.  unless  I take them with me wink.png

If you want a bunch of eggs, I'd say go with the Australorp. My Aussie hen, Zinnia, outlays the rest of the other laying hens and is very, very pretty, especially for a hatchery bird. I'd say she's even with the poultry standards, so I could show her if I wanted to. She's a very sweet hen, although she likes to be the leader and is quite protective of her coop-mates around chickens who aren't in her little "clique". :P

Here she is:

450

Although, if you don't want a hen that lays very much, go with a Cochin. They're very cute and known for their friendliness.

I would say Australorp too, if anything, I would not pick the cochin bantam. They are very prone to leg mites and mine were all horrible mothers, they killed their chicks.
