free range area per bird

I am fencing a little over 1/8 acre (6400 sq feet)of old hay meadow to free range some meat birds.

 

From Bergs hatchery in Manitoba, I plan to get 15 of their Bergs Grazers.

They are Cornish X size but grow a bit more slowly.

I hope the plot will be well grazed by the birds by the end of the summer.

If it was down to bare dirt by October so I could plant a graden next year, that would be great.

Is 15 full sized non hybrid birds enough to graze that much land?

They should make a dent in it if you mow it. Mine like to pick grass seeds but don't like not being able to see where they are going. I mow my grass tall. If you throw scratch grains out in the field they will also spend all day scratching up your grass. 

All that natural chicken fertilizer will give you an incredible garden!

I don't have cornish crosses. So I don't know if their size will slow them down. I have skinny barnyard birds.... last year for that. I got jersey giants on order this year. Too much work processing skinny little birds.
