Would ya look at that - a pop-up-porta-brooder

Saw this today and just had to share.  The top and bottom remove for cleaning.  Can be hosed off.  Folds flat when not in use.

The biggest problem with these is it is almost impossible to sanitize them....

No REAL experience with it... but I would think that removing the top and bottom, hosing it out and spraying down with a disinfectant would do the trick.

What would you do?  (one can never gather too much knowledge  big_smile.png  )

I have used a pop up kennel in the past.  Unlike dogs, chickens kick stuff everywhere.  I used garbage bags to line the bottom. They scratched them up.  Poop was kicked up the sides.  Since it is fabric, it was very hard to disinfect.  I couldn't bleach it, or oxine it, like a plastic tub or other types of materials.  The bedding got into the cracks, so did the yuk, the food, the water....some would not mind, I like the fact that I can scrub out the hard sided materials, better.  I just never felt that it was truly clean.

I've got a batch of ducks in one of those right now. It has its pros and cons, but it works quite well!

I do NOT keep it outside, though, it really would blow away in an instant. It doesn't have tent stakes, btw. It is in the concrete floored basement. I keep a plastic dropcloth underneath, for good reason.

I've seen those, talk about fire hazard. The material is highly flameable then add that to the heat from a heat lamp. Not a good combo.
