Liz, wife, mom to 4 boys and  "food lady" to a mix of mostly Ameraucanas & EE's with a few oddball breeds for fun. :)

That's....hilariously ludicrous.   I will make sure to let my 3 hens, who are all piled up nesting together, know that they need to spread out....because apparently they need 1000sq ft each.  Have they seen a chicken?  Even a bigger breed like an orpington doesn't need 1000sq ft to move around.  One of my daughters bedrooms is only 10ft X12ft....   Question though...so what if I have 1000sq ft per bird or yard space, but I house them in a 10ft x 10ft coop?  Would I be breaking the law then?

 

Btw...I'm just up North from you in Sac.  I will sign your petition as well.

LMAO!  Lets see...my house is 2200 sq ft.  We have 5 of us living in it.  Are they saying that each chicken needs more room than a human?

Wow, that is some confusing zoning laws they have in Vacaville!  I signed your petition and I live in Fairfield.  I am at least allowed 3 hens (no roos) and there are no specifics to coop location except it has to be in the backyard.  The zoning office also repeatedly told me to be a good neighbor, lol, I guess that means keep the stink to a minimum :)

 

I am really surprised about Vacaville laws, it seems more of a farm like area than Fairfield, they are being ridiculous.  I used to board my horse in Vacaville, off Cherry Glen road.  There is even that egg farm near there called Soul Food farms.  Very confusing and frustrating.  My fingers are crossed that this gets resolved in your favor fl.gif

Thats a good point.  Are they going to start requireing people to live in certain size houses?  500sq feet per person so a family of 8 needs a mansion with 4000 sq feet.
