A Peacock has decided to visit!

Well, this is what I believe..
That young man could Not have chosen a Better home to " adopt ".

I strongly feel that lost animals " know " , somehow instinctively , who to chose to take care of their needs and welfare !

I seem to have Always been a " magnet " for all kinds of strays my whole life , and the way I think of it , is they are " little angels " sent to me and " checking up on my care for my animals , and if they like what they see , they stick around forever and in most all of my strays are exceptionally loyal and loving for the remainder of their lives.

I feel " honored " when an animal " choses " ME as their mom.

Congrats on your newest " angel "!:)

That is a cool way of thinking ladychicken&Ducklover ! I always thought it would be cool if my peafowl attracted a stray peafowl to the yard but so far that hasn't happened. Whenever people's dogs get loose they always come to our house though. I always love to see dogs visit.

Thank you ! I would just LOVE to have a peacock ! Still trying to find out who has eggs. :)

The hubby and I did see him a few days before he arrived. He was crossing the road and hanging around a neighbor's tractor shop. The next day the shop owner came to my door and wanted to know if I had a peacock who escaped. I told him no but I had noticed one just down the road. He replied the bird might get run over because it keeps hanging around the road. I told him may be the bird would hear my chickens and come to them. Apparently 'George' heard all the cackling and crowing, and managed to find his way here.

He's still here and the hubby wants to build a pen for him. George seems perfectly able to take care himself but I do worry about dogs, hawks and so forth. He desperately wants in with the chickens but there is just not enough room, and I don't think he could fit through the pop door. Now the hubby is talking about getting George a girlfriend. Oh boy!

Anyway, George is a character. He like to weave about, darting here and there, bobbing his head. Once he spread his rather tattered tail which spooked the hens, and thus spooked him. He's relatively quiet, although he will honk if I don't let the chickens out on time or lock them in at night on time. Occasionally he'll come spy on me in the house, and I'll find him staring at me through the window. If I look back at him, he'll honk, slide down the banister, and dance his way back to the barn.

He likes to pose for the camera. Especially when he learned bread is involved with photo shoots!

Odd thing, though, the last few weeks I was reminiscing about peacocks who came to visit us when I was a wee girl in Oklahoma. They were simply visitors, though, and stayed a few days to gain strength for their trip to wherever. I think George is going to stay. He seems quite content.
