Setting Today (03-02-2012) - Page 23

The first time I set them on their sides and they did okay, a lot of rocking. The this time they're in egg cartons, but they don't have a lot of room to move about. Though I still have 3 hours to change my mind though :)

i set mine in cartons, kinda cattycornered, they arnt straight up. humidity steady at 66%. maybe a bit high, but i've hatched before with good success so we'll see.

Did I miscount?  I set my eggs on 3/2 and I'm locking down on Tuesday - day 18.  You guys must have set sooner than I did.

i set mine on 3/1...so i counted that as day one. i set in the morning, although not the early morning. usually i like to set at night before bed and then i count the next day as day one.

I set mine on 3/24 so I will go into lock down on Wed. I think they are not going to be starting to hatch till Sunday or Monday. I have my temp a bit lower now. I am finding at the temp I was at I was getting more roosters so I am going ot start using a lower temp and see if I get more hens. It works with reptiles.

i've heard that.......that the higher temps kills off what would've been roosters, you'll have a lower hatch rate, but who cares if most are hens. let us know how it goes! :)

I sat mine on 3/1, though I opened my bator this morning since I forgot to do something, so lock down for me started at 7am instead of 11pm last night.

When do the eggs start rocking? Day 19?

I think I am going to have more roosters since I had a higher temp this last time on day five. will let all know. I set my eggs on 3/3

No clue, my last hatch didn't do anything that I could see. I would go out to the coop to clean it for a few hours and would come back to six hatched chicks LOL. No peeping either. 2nd part of the hatch took place in an hour when I went to pick up my daughter and ran an errand. My chicks have always been sneaky sneaky.
