Mousekit was determined to stay awake but eventually succumbed to sleep, resting his head against Whitewing's fluffy tail. Tawnykit and Cloudkit were already out cold.

Hawkfeather felt utterly helpless lying in the cave. She was mad at herself for not fighting off Phoenixwing and Stormstar better. Then I wouldn't be here right now. I would be with my Clan.

Suddenly, Hawkfeather heard the shrieks of a battle raging in the forest; in the direction of StreamClan. No! Snowpaw! The kits! The elders! Everyone! Are they okay? What if they're being killed?!

Chivepaw had noticed that most of StormClan was gone and had taken the opportunity to get some herbs to heal Hawkfeather's wounds.

Stormstar let out a yowl of rage, three of the rogues diving under Stormstar, tearing her away from their leader. One rogue, slightly larger than Icestar gripped her scruff and shook her wildly, making her jaws rattle. They flung her far away, sending her cannoning to the groud with a dull thud.
