So let me see f I got this straight. I can have 6 hens and no rosters. 5 chicks hatched from my first attempt at incubating 12 eggs. I really would like 6. 7 eggs didn't hatch the first time so I should start with 7 just in case it happens again. Plus 2 because there is a 50 % chance of a rooster. Plus 5 because half of the 5 that hatched might be roosters.
To get from 5 to 6 I should put 14 (or maybe 18 just to be safe) more eggs in the incubator right?
