I have 11 Rhode Island Red eggs and four silkie eggs.  I gave my very, very special silkie egg to my best broody hen.  I was dying to check under her today to see if it was born, but resisted the urge and will wait it out to see if the little fuzzy is peeking out in a few days.  And I had another silkie egg that seemed to be very far behind everyone else, but I can't figure out what I did with it.  I thought I left it in the incubator with the eggs I sat this weekend, but I can't see it!  Only I can add and subtract eggs without knowing where everyone went or how everyone got in my bator..........I am DR. FRANKENSTEIN!!!!!!!!!

And what are you doing on here, Ms. Cali Chick?????  Don't worry, I'm not saying a word, LOL.

Won MF cochin eggs tonight from Wildwoodcochins.  Too exciting.  Now will have to get some from Westknollamy later when the bator is empty to go with them, if I should be so lucky as to get some chicks.

And the good news to know is that my homemade bators do obviously work.  I figured they did and it was just me and the humdiity.  So glad I worked it out since I have four dozen in my bator and four dozen more on the way.  I don't know when my new one will be here so I have fired up the LG and can at least get them going in it while I'm waiting.  Hoping to have it soon!!!!

Thank you for the encouragement.  No matter what happens this time I will not open the bator up.  My DH told me not to sit up all night trying to see the baby hatch and the funny thing was I had never even considered it this time.  I guess I'm getting the hang of this......a little.

Here is a picture of my biggest pipper.  I can see a little blood on the membrane so I'm really glad now I have the baby monitor to hear it so I know it is okay.  If not, that would have really scared me.  I can't get a picture of the other pip because that egg is directly behind this egg and on the backside, which is against the wall.

And what are you doing on here, Ms. Cali Chick?????  Don't worry, I'm not saying a word, LOL. Well, DH is playing a video game at the moment so is unaware of my wareabouts...I suppose I could go watch him, but I have so much more fun on BYC! hehe!

Guess what?  Tomorrow is MY lockdown for my EE eggs. celebrate.gifI'm so excited for new chickies that I candled the 5 EE's and several more silkie eggs.  The EE eggs are really dark and big so I could only see veins and shadows, but the little silkies (on Day10) seemed to float by my pencil and say, "Hi" while I marked their aircells.

I'm falling in love already.  love.gif Can't wait till they hatch...hope they hatch that is!

I can't wait for your lockdown either!!!!!!!!  I will be as anxious for you as I am for myself.  I'm glad you're here with me, though.  I feel like I might really be successful this time.  I do wish someone else in there would hurry along and start moving.

I hope you love your EEs.  I have four of them and I absolutely do not regret getting them.  They are awesome.  I have some real Ameraucanas and those things are not quite as friendly, but I will just keep working with them.  My EEs are such a pretty color too.  I know it's early still, but it's looking like I might have one boy and three girls.  I don't plan on breeding them so that would work out perfectly for me and I am stopping there on that breed. Someone offered to give me free eggs last week, but I will (try) to hold myself back.  That person said the eggs sold well as people like the different colors.  My DH said he thought colored eggs were freaky and he only wanted them in white or brown.  What a party crasher he is.

So five EEs and how many silkies altogether?  And by the way, I'm glad the seller offered you more eggs.  That was very generous.  Now, if you get a gray roo, I really need one so keep me in mind.  I want to do gray partridge and have two stunning pullets, but no boyfriend for them.  I just bought a new gray partridge chick, but I have a feeling she is a girl.  It's so funny because most people are overrun with roos and I have mostly girls.  I think it's a good problem to have, though.

Maybe we should chip in and buy your DH a new video game so he will be distracted more often.   lol.png

My incubator did not come with a humidifier, so i haven't been regulating the humidity. I just fill up the water trays whenever they get low. I'm a little worried that the temperature is the problem. I have been doing my best to keep it in a certain range, but I've had no luck. One minute, it is at 103 (I'm hoping this did not hurt them, For the last week the temperature stayed around 102-104, and it didn't hurt them) and then I barely turn it down, and it goes clear down to 94. I'm hoping they're still okay, I think I still see a few pushing at the membrane, but it's a little hard to be sure when I'm candling them as well as I can through the glass of the incubator.

I've got 2 cats, Dyllen and Star. I have 17 chickens; 3 BLRW, 3 mutts, 2 EEs, 2 White Rock roosters, 1 RIR, 1 White Leghorn, 1 Red Star, 1 Golden Campine, 1 unknown hen, 1 Partridge cochin, and 1  Golden Polish. I also have 1 Swedish/Black Indian Runner laying on 8 eggs.

Well, I guess I'll go to sleep and (again) hope to hear peeping in the morning. Be sure to keep me updated on how your eggs are doing wholewheatchicken!

I will.  I had a lot of trouble with my temperature this time too.  The last two hatches it stayed an even 99 - 100 and this time it was 99 then drop to 97 for a very short bit, up to 99.  So if the chicks are a little late in coming, I won't be surprised.

Well it sounds like everyone is starting to get pips and cheeps!! I have 1 very small pip and sounds like 2 are cheeping in there!! WWC, looks like things are progressing in your incubator!! NICE!! I can't wait to see the pictures of all of your babies!! But I must admit... I'm very jealous of your broodies!! I don't have a single hen that is even THINKING about going broody!! AND I think I kept 3 roosters out of my last hatch!! he.gif 1 is an EE roo, so that isn't so bad but I wanted some hens for my laying pen!! Dang it!! LOL!!
