I just about got flogged by my male turkey tonight. He went NUTS on me. I was able to slap him up side the head and thankfully he backed off. VERY SCARY to see him coming at me with wngs out and ready to fight. I had to catch a goose and he did not like it.. at all!

Leghorns are great egg laying chickens. They are friendly to other Leghorns and can easily fly. The only problems is that they are bad in the pecking order and they can make a mess of the yard....

Too, too funny on the turkey posts!!!! I guess it helps one to not feel so bad about all the enjoyment they bring during the holidays.
CALI CHICK.......YOU DID AN AMAZING, SUPER JOB. I'm so glad for you that you helped and that it worked out the way it did. I wonder how your last nonpipped chicks are doing???? They are absolutey beautiful!
I go into lockdown on the fourth day from now with my silkie and Ameraucana eggs!!!!! It doesn't seem like it's been that long. I think I've been too busy with chicks and chickens and ducklings now to remember I have some incubating.
I went to the poultry show in KY today to pick up my pullet and what did I get to buy
The most amazing calico roo.....the person selling him didn't do calico. And even better, we got to the show when it was ending and the only reason someone hadn't snatched him up is he was being shown and no one could take him yet and no one waited for him. He won Best of Variety. His color is really something. And then the same person had HATCHING EGGS!!!! So I bought five buff and the rest partridge that I got to bring home and pop in my incubator. She has silkies from some of the best breeders....and I made a genetics friend who is hopefully going to help me put colors together with the new cocks I got last month and I will trade her hatching eggs. I am super excited!!!!!
So I have no chicks hatching right now, but I am enjoying everyone else's babies!!!!!
Is there anyone who is having some hatch later in the week???? I am starting to think I'm going to be all alone ![]()
All 7 are finally out. I have 2 blue, 5 self blue I think. Now I can get some sleep, lol. I have nothing else hatching until the calls, due around the 22nd. One goose egg, due the first week of may. Oh, and a few quail that I forget when I threw in. Think they have at least a week and a half though.

Oh, my gosh, those are cute....what in the world are they????
Any advice on ducklings? We bought some yesterday. They're just Pekins so don't wrinkle your nose, anyone. I have had so much of that in the last day it's not even funny. Was I missing something....is there something wrong with Pekins???? It's what my daughter wanted, LOL, and she loves them. She totes them around everywhere with her all day long. I tried to get her to get some SQ call ducks, but she said they were ugly...too funny. I thought they were fabulous. I would have snatched them up in a heartbeat.

Wow, Kim....You had a great day at the show! How fun! One of these days, I would like to go to a poultry show.
I have 10 babies in the brooder. One more hatched on it's own this morning. ![]()
(I still have 3 eggs in the bator that I candled. Didn't see any movement, so I opened them up. One seemed shrinkwrapped with a white membrane covering it's body. The other two had clear membranes over them, but their heads were still tucked down?. I only took the top of the egg and membrane off, wrapped the in warm wet paper towels and put them back in the bator!
) I know I'm nuts!
These eggs were all from BlueBlackSplash pens but I ended up with such a variety of colors.
Um, I might even have a couple partridges...don't know how that got in there as I know nothing about genetics! One of the has such a large head....it almost looks swollen. But it's beautiful. They are all so cute. Even, my DH was holding the different babies and picking out his favorites-LOL!
Here's a picture of all ten taking a nap (one of many naps).

Oh, I meant to say, "I think I may have some SPLASH babies"!
The white ones look like little polar bears and one of the light blues has the chubbiest cheeks -it looks like a teddybear. Here are some more individual pictures that my son took.................and I might as well put some recent pics of the EE chicks too.
Hope you don't mind.

Were the three eggs still alive?
Either way, you really did such a great job helping the others. I hope everyone in your house gave you a huge pat on the back!
These babies are way too cute! If you have any partridge in there, you know where you can ship them to a good home!!!!! I am always open to beautiful rainbow babies.
I need to get a picture of my little chicks. I need a new camera. Mine has been through the wringer.

What color do you think the second and third chick are? They look really neat!

How do you get a partridge? Everyone in my family is enjoying the variety of colors...even DH is "cooing" over them, which is rare! I have no idea what color they really are yet. They change every time I look in the brooder.![]()
I don't think the 3 chicks in the bator made it (and I have NO idea what went wrong for them). I didn't want to just throw them away....Maybe they're sleeping? If they haven't moved by morning, I'll throw them into the compost. ![]()
