HELP!! chicks dying all of the sudden

In order for us to help, we need more accurate info. Have you raised chicks before?

Questions:
  1. What are you using for heat? What is the temperature in their brooder? Can they get away from the heat lamp (lamp at one end of the brooder and food and water at the other end)?
  2. What are you using for a brooder?
  3. Do you have the mother hen or did you buy them?
  4. Can any pets or young children get to the chicks?
  5. What are you feeding?
  6. Are they in a draft?
  7. What bedding are you using (cedar and other hardwoods are toxic)?

Did you give them vinegar and water that was too hot? No vinegar at this age and hot water can burn their crop which at this age can be fatal--hope that's not it. Room temp water only. After a few weeks a little ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) in the water is OK but only at 1 tablespoon per gallon.
vinegar in water work? Think it may have been too hot.

Talked to our local FFA advisor. Sounds like the heat got them. We saved two by giving them some water and putting them back in the bator. Rookie mistakes. Thankfully we were here watching and save some. Just hate seeing them suffer. Thank you all soooo much!

We were having the same issue with our chicks. But we got them from a feed store. If it is too hot usually they will move as far as they can get from the heat lamp. Do they get medicated feed or straight feed?
