The one that had pipped early this morning, before I went to the stock sale, had zipped halfway around then died before I got back home.  *sigh*  But another is pipping!  *cheer*

I got my first baby around 2:15 this afternoon. It pipped around 6 am and around 2 went to check and baby was halfway out. It took it less than 30 seconds and it was freed from the egg. I am in love. Hopefully it won't be alone much longer its lonely

Well, I am off to bed...lights out. We still don't have any little BOB's, yet. The one egg that had been actively moving until today is moving again. Maybe she was resting before the big breakout. Hopefully, tomorrow will be full of surprises.

Until then.

Congrats everyone!! My one egg in the incubator is not doing anything yet!! I really hope that it is going to hatch, I saw it bobbling up and down in its shell on day 18 and I kind of become attached to it since it is the only one left, it that weird? Anyway, best of hatching luck to everyone! big_smile.png

I've been following along with this thread with my own staggered set eggs (Mar. 7 & Mar. 9).  Out of the 21 set on both days, I have only 6 live chicks and, of those hatched, it's fairly divided between those set on March 7 and those of March 9.  Incidentally, both sets of eggs hatched out one day earlier than the norm at 20 days.  The rest seemed to quit around Day 16.

I have no clue why I get such dismal rates (this is the normal hatch rate here).   I have Grumbach incubators, Roll-X incubators, Avistat hatchers, Joe Freed Hatchers, etc. etc. (add dollars signs whenever appropriate).   Additionally, I've done everything I can think of including:

-disinfecting between batches

-changing incubators AND re-disinfecting

-calibrating all equipment

-alternating between humidity levels for different sets

-dry incubation

-lock down

-no lock down

-manual turning

-auto turning

-etc.

You name it, I've done it.  These eggs are even from different parents, so the answer HAS to be in something I'm doing wrong, not the parent stock.

Any ideas?

Oh!  Congratulations to all the new parents on this thread!
