Well off to bed I go.... Will dream of pips and zips tonight! My bator is still quiet. sad.png I didn't set my eggs until 8:30 on the 7th. I actually taped the edge of my incubator so I would think twice before opening it again. big_smile.png

Azhenhouse: no oblong egg died in lockdown.

Akpheng: Are those bantam cochins, some of them look just like my babies.

Congrats to Everyone..

I had 4/14 shipped bantam Cochins hatch, 1/3 Mille and 4 /13 of my sister in laws mixed chickens hatch but 1 died. My lockdown didn't go so well, 8 chicks died in lockdown. sad.png I used dry incubation and followed what it said??? But the babies I did end up with are the cutest little fuzzy butts I just hope 1 is a rooster for my girls. My ducks go into lockdown next week and so far out of my 22 eggs 20 have embryos in them, maybe Ill have better luck with my own eggs. I'll post pics of babies tomorrow.

Mom to 8 call ducks, 16 bantam cochins, 1 frizzle cochin, 3 bearded silkies, 2 pugs, 2 cats, fish, 1 husband and 2 wonderful kids!

Did you raise humidity during lock down? I tried dry incubation and it does not work for me. I keep humidity during lockdown at 65-80 percent

They are cute. Yep raised it to 65-67% some got their beaks threw lining but it looked white and dry but they weren't dry below lining?? Others didn't even get threw lining?? Don't know, I may try some milles from sister in law and try keeping humidity at 50% see what happens before I buy more bantam Cochins. I lost my calicos, laced and mottled the ones I ordered them for. But the ones I have are cute little puff balls. I just hope I got 1 rooster out of the 4.

I have one pip this morning but its location concerns me. It's on the side is this normal or is the chick going to hatch sideways. Boy am I a newbie!

I think side is normal unless way down bottom then maybe it's upside down? My millie pipped then did a complete circle and zipped back around to where he started from. Pretty neat to watch, we watched for a hour. LOL   The others pipped on side toward the top but we missed those, by top I mean where the airspace meets chick.
