I am offering a dozen hatching eggs from my gorgeous flock of Icelandic chickens. They will be collected between now and Tuesday March 13th, when they will ship. My flock comes from the original import of Icelandic eggs into the US in 1998. I also have birds in my flock from the next importation in 2003. Icelandic chickens are a landrace fowl first introduced into Iceland by the Vikings in the 900's. Their DNA today remains 78% the same as it was then. For this reason it is critical that these birds remain pure and not be crossbred or standardized. If you do not have preservation in mind please do not bid. Icelandics are heathy, hardy, and street smart. Mine free range on a couple of acres. I have four roosters and 20 hens. The hens will go broody and make excellent mothers. Icelandics come in many different colors with straight combs, rosecombs and funky combs in a league all their own. They can have yellow or slate colored legs and feathered legs occur from time to time as well. They lay white eggs which will be small to medium in the beginning but progress to large. Pullets will often start laying small very light cream colored eggs but eventually they lay white.
Eggs will be carefully packaged and shipped but I cannot reimburse or re-ship damaged eggs as I have no control over what happens once they leave my hands. I will make every attempt to include extras. I reserve the right the refuse to sell to any individual if I feel the situation warrants it.
