How close are you to Oregon border? I have incubator up and running and there is room for more eggs.

I candled them this morning.   They are all still moving.  I do have a question though.  I went on U-tube and some one had done a series of pictures of what a chick looks like when you crack open the egg at every single day.  From the picture of day 16 is what the chick looked like when I opened it up 2 days ago.   That would make today 18 and lock down day but since I don't know for sure should I still move the eggs around?

I haven't ever hatched so I would only be guessing but I searched the site and came up with this quote from the link below.  Maybe you could candle again and see if there are shadows in the air cell?

"If the owner has observed the development of the air cell during incubation then at about 3-4 days before hatching is expected the air cell suddenly enlarges and tends to dip down one side. Within a day shadows can usually be seen entering the air cell as the chick manoeuvres into its final hatching position. At this point the owner should stop turning and place the eggs in a position where the greater amount of air cell is uppermost. All eggs enter this same sequence and the movement of shadows within the air cell is an indicator that the egg should not be turned"

you must be doing things right if the chicks are still moving, please keep updating as things progress

I have an egg that is talking.  Its been peeping since this morning around 5:30 but has not pipped yet. Since I can't get the humidity to stay steady I have been candling and watching all of them move.

Thank you for finding quote.   I will use the info if it happens again.

How exciting, it sounds like chicks soon for you!  Please keep posting updates, I am hoping for healthy chickies for you.  And I have never heard an egg talk (yet) but hope to in 14 days

I have a second egg peeping so I moved them together maybe they will encourage each other.  I have to go to work but if the first egg hasn't piped yet when I get back then I will help it. if its still alive.  it will have been over 30 hours.
