how many?

I used a large (well, xlarge - dane sized) crate for my 3 duckings. Now the dane is in there when we aren't home, so no more handy dandy brooder.

You can try large storage bins or a kiddie pool.

we use a dog cage, but if you want to keep in water....

Kiddie pool works well

For almost a week now we've been using a plastic tote that measures about 3' x 18" for 12 ducks. We lined the bottom with pine chips covered by puppy pads. Works great. The high sides keep drafts to a minimum, but you'll have to change out the puppy pads frequently. When they outgrow that I plan to move them to a wading pool with cardboard sideboards.

What a great idea!  I wouldn't have thought of that.  I worry about little heads getting stuck in things (chicken wire, wire crates etc)  Hmm, there is a habit for humanity thrift store near me.  They sell used building supplies, might need to run down there.  Just in case.  Can't let the hubby know lau.gif  Better to be prepared for the unexpected.

Rose, yes we have used pellets for most new babies, except bunnies (too much confusion with food lol)

Jdy, totally agree! Better to be prepared than to be rushing around. We never would have thought to use screen either. It works very well so far. Each pen is 2.5' tall so I can step over easily.
