Looks like a young pullet, from how sharply defined the eyeliner and stripes are.  I love the chipmunky ones!

The Cat is in the henhouse!!

Mom to: 4 dogs, 15 cats, and... Chickens! 11 purchased Silkie chicks; 3 assorted bantam chicks;  2 Silkie Roos (buff & partridge); 17 Silkie O (formerly known as Silkie-X); 4 Black Rosecombs; 3 EEs; and one gorgeous Ameraucana rooster named Flame!  More chicks every day!  Go, chickies, go!

Day 21 has concluded. 7 healthy chicks hatched. 3 bantam EE mixes, 1 Cinnamon Queen EE mix, 3 full EEs. One EE egg remaining. For a first time hatch using a home made incubator and refrigerated eggs from both a young roo and young hens I couldn't be more happier and surprised!, Thanks to all the good folks on this site and the wealth of knowledge that is out there for the taking. I could not and would not have done it without all of you. Much of the fun was sharing with the folks who enjoy it most!

Hondo:

Congratulations on your sucessful hatch.  Going back to the beginning of this thread and watching the development of the eggs to the hatched chicks was totally engrossing.

I also liked your idea about the ramp in the brooder.  I think I'll steal that idea from you if any of my chicks hatch.  It was day 10 yesterday and when I candled them 3 were a no-go.  But......that means 12 are developingwee.gif  I'm so excited.

your first hatch made me cry. It was so amazing. I just love the videos. Birth is always a glorious thing.  Now the girls at work are wondering why my eyes are all teary!!!!!

beautiful job. congrats on the new babies. love.gif

I looked at all the caged animals in the barn...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry."God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly, "I have done something," he replied.  "I created you."
