I candled my 15 FBCM eggs earlier today.  Looks like i have pretty good fertility from what i can tell.  Of course its a little difficult to see in those beautiful chocolate eggs!  lol  Guess i'll try it again on day 14.

Has anyone else candled theirs yet?  How's it looking?

Ok I couldnt wait until day 14, so I candled them again lastnight.  I didnt have much time the other night when I candled them to really look them over good.  Got 15 eggs set and looks like 11 or 12 or them are for sure fertile.  Gosh I hope so!  These are shipped eggs that I purchased and the last dozen I set from an online purchase I got nothing.  I would be happy with 40-50% hatch rate.  Maybe it will be even more.

i have six little peeps all moving about lets hope they all hatch i live in scotland

the only thing that worries me is a power cut.   what do you do with all these chicks Akpheng do you sell them?

The ones i like i keep for future stock. The rest i sell or trade for feed. I have over 80 birds. I take a hit in the pockets when it comes to feed. Cant afford to keep all these birds.

Hi thats a lot of birds i understand it must be a lot for feeding hope you have a good hatch

you must enjoy having chickens are you not bothered by foxes or hawks

i only keep mine as pets

No foxes, raccoon, possums, or hawks. I have lost chicks to cats but that's about it. I also see coyotes on occasions, but they won't come near because I have pit bulls roaming about. I love keeping these birds.

Putting the eggs in lockdown this weekend.  Can't wait!  Looks like I have 10 of 15 that I know are fertile and should have a good chance to hatch.  Time will tell.  fl.gif
