First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.

Its not as fat and slow as a pekin, but its not frail either. I want a mallard but I don't want a flying bird. The rouen is great for that.

They are my calmest birds and are easiest to catch. They eat less than Pekins. I heard they also lay well, but mine are younger.

I set 20 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte eggs this morning. I am hatching these so that we will have some chicks when my cousins come over for easter! And so I can get more hens because I am selling eggs before they are laid! Anybody else that I can hatch with?

I candled 3 of the 20 eggs last night to check on the development and all 3 had veining!! YEA. now I can't wait till I candle the rest of them on wednesday (day 7).

OK so I could not wait any longer and candled all of them tonight and all but 2 had veining and movement!! I think those two weren't fertile but I left them in just in case. Anybody else set eggs on 3/14? How are your eggs doing?

UPDATE!!! I candled again today and 2 were infertile and 1 looks like it quit after my last candling. So that leaves me with 17 eggs that are developing nicely. did anyone else set eggs on 3/14 or close to it?
