Best hatcheries? - Page 2

Holy moly they're expensive! That's the worst shipping price I've ever seen! I'd recommend My Pet Chicken or Meyer if you need small orders of chicks - I have had great experience with them AND MPC sexes bantams.

The remaining 6 of my original 7 barred rocks are 3yrs old and happily divided between a friend and my mom.
Laying: 2 Partridge Rocks, 1 Columbian Wyandotte and 2 Black Australorps. 14 weeks: 3 bantam Araucana.
Cowed to chicken math and sharing my bedroom with 8 BBS Ameraucana mixes.

@ shadow, I have had the best luck with Murray Mcmurray hatchery. They have the best chicks out of anybody in my opinion. They also have a 100% live guarantee! I have ordered from them several times with great results and I'm very happy with there quality aswell. I will be uploading pics of my pullets and hens I've gotten from them and put under the (Any one order from Mcmurray hatchery? forum) let me know if you have any other questions. Thankswee.gif

I would order from McMurray, but I can only have 6-8 chicks. I can't order 25. Its so hard to find small order hatcheries. The only ones I could find were Cackle(Small order special), Meyer, MPC, and California.

Shadow, Try and find someone local to split an order with you there is always somebody out there looking for chicks! I usually order about 50 and keep 10 or so and sell the rest you will pay for your birds plus shipping. Just an FYI. Also not sure if you have gotten to the checkout point yet but when you do you will find out most hatchery's 70-80% will charge you a small order fee plus the shipping is same for 25 as it is just a couple they only charge more shipping for orders over 25+. I hope this helps I also uploaded pics for you of some hens and pullets I've bought from them so you can see the quality.

Beautiful birds! I was thinking about asking people in my local poultry 4-H club if they wanted some birds, but my mom doesn't think I can get rid of them. Id love to order from Purely Poultry too because of its wide bantam selection, but I have to find someone to take the birds first.
