Feather Plucking (W/ Pics)

Thread Starter

Hi all!

Wanted to share a funny story about the Chicken Saddle.

My Leghorn was plucked almost bare (Bum, back, wings, and more!)

No amount of Blue-Kote helped, and she just kept on getting plucked.  It started with the back, then the bum, then wings, and we just kept blue-koting.  :)  Didn't work....

I decided that I was going to make some saddles, and after much trial and error, I figured it out, and made a few...

I put a saddle on her, and wanted to share the 3-weeks after the saddle was put on photos.  lol

She looks like a PORCUPINE.!!!!  LOL

She is growing feathers in places I never knew chickens had feathers!  LOL

So happy she is going to be her beautiful (although blue-kote-stained) self!  LOL

I brought her inside the house, and in a couple of days, the "quills" should start opening into pretty white feathers...

I will take another photo of her then.  But for not, wanted to share this...  :)

(OK, tried to post photos, but am not having much luck with photo bucket.  How do I put pictures on?)
