I just got some eggs today in the mail and they were fine but I need some help in knowing what I should do. I ordered 12 eggs and an incubator. The eggs arrived today. The incubator won't be here until Friday or Monday. The egg seller said that she doesn't send eggs that are older than 3 days old when she collected them. She sent them to me on Monday. They arrived here today, Wednesday. So the "oldest" the eggs could/should be is 5 days. The incubator that I have ordered is a Brinsea Mini Advance Egg Incubator with Automatic Egg Turning.

Since the Brinsea unit will not arrive until this Friday (two more days) or Monday (4 more days), I am concerned about waiting too long to start incubating my eggs. So this afternoon I went to the local IFA and purchased a still air incubator. Thats all the had. What I need to know is, can I go ahead and start the eggs incubating in the stil air incubator, and then transfer the eggs to the Brinsea when I get it? I don't know if this can be done. I thought my incubator would be here in time. UGH!

Return the still egg incubator. The eggs should be fine using the more expensive incubator. I have had eggs hatch up to 18 days old. There will be a few more that will not hatch because of the age, but using 2 different incubators the first 18 days could be doing more harm than good..

Eggs do great up to day 14. If you keep them longer than 14 days hatch rate goes down fast.

That being said. You have the incubator now so set it up an run it for 24 hours an then set the eggs. Then keep it around for a hatcher.

i am hatching eggs for an elderly man atm. he said the eggs were about a month old! i told him that it's best if they're not any older than 10 days....but oh well. put them in the bator anyway. and out of 27 eggs, 25 are going strong! woohoo!

We are having a similar problem on the Easter Hatch a long. Eggs are arriving before the saturday set day. SO what to do with the eggs? Let them rest and recoveruntil saturday. Many report better hatches on shipped eggs if you let the eggs sit still without turning to help the air cell set up again. and often setting upright in a turner or egg carton-style will help. Just passing on what I have read.
