Awww, she's pretty. I didnt even think of ebay for eggs. So you got 1 hatch out of how many? I hear you do good to get half to hatch. Im thinking of ordering chicks from one of the hatcheries. That way I can get females, hopefully, and should only lose one or two. Losing none would be great, in a perfect world. Id do the rooster thing but Brookhaven doesnt allow them. Although I do hear some in my neighborhood. Good luck with her and let me know how she turns out.

I got 5 out of 7 RBLW's 3girls and 2 roos, 4 out of 7 Turkens 2girls and 2 roos, and 4out of 7 Buff laced polish and my luck all 4 were roos. I got all the eggs from ebay. I loved doing the whole thing but I probably would not do it again. I think I would do the hatchery next time and only get females. I go for the unusual and might geta few in a month or so I know there's one place that doesn't require ordering a huge amount. Good luck in what you decide. Carol

Talamage farm is good by be advised you have to put in an order soon, I would call them to see if their taking orders now, and the law is you have to buy 6. Hope this helps. Talamage is in riverhead

On old willets path in Hauppauge there is a feed supply store. In the same parking lot as Roadway Tires. They have bedding, feed, scratch, and cracked corn in bulk.

I bought my rir's from agway in port jeff. I've gone out to riverhead agway (Tallmadge farm) and while I love their selection, their prices are higher then port jeff on feed and bedding. I'll probably buy my next chicks from riverhead, but I'll continue to get my feed in port jeff.

Old thread, but I thought I would mention a place I've both ordered from and visited in L.I. and had great results with.
