Buying doves in pet store? - Page 2

Yeah, they really hide the info for shipping.  Mickacoo and Mickaboo kind of run together on the site, so the info for the pigeons can be a bit hard to find.  Hmm...actually, this is the only thing I could find on their actual website:

http://www.mickacoo.org/mickacoo.html (text search for 'ships', and it mentions that they do ship pigeons)

But this may actually be more helpful:

http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/465729/urgent-100-pigeons-mostly-highfliers-surrendered-and-needing-homes

http://www.pigeons.biz/forums/f5/mickacoo-has-taken-in-19-new-pigeons-in-last-2-weeks-47903.html (scroll down a bit and Elizabeth posts from Mickacoo.  Syas yes they do ship, but may not ship during very hot/cold weather).  :)

http://www.rescuereport.org/ is a blog that relates back to Mickacoo and sometimes has more info

and their Facebook site is also updated more often:

Best of luck!

Thanks Again punk-a-doodle thumbsup.gif,

I was just thinking tomorrow I might go to the pet store and buy a white dove there, but I think I'll try to see if I can adopt  first.  It can't cost more money to adopt than to buy the birds in the pet store.

I'm going to contact Elizabeth on Mickacoo and sent her an email maybe she can help me adopt.

I'll fill up an online application if that will help.

Thanks!!

I sell mine for $10 each plus shipping. What sex are you looking for?

Thanks Mary for replying!

Either male or female would be fine I'm not looking for a certain gender as I have a lot of the normal brown doves.  Just wanted to get one or two of the white doves to keep with the others.

How much is shipping to NY?

Thank you Again! wink.png

I wouldn't buy it at the petstore.

I have friends that sell theres for 8-10 dollars plus shipping, around the price or Mary.

It wouldn't be worth it.

Probably not quality either.

Okie dokie :) Some of my whites are taking their sweet time "telling" me what they are so you may get some "wait and see"s :) Shipping will probably be around $35 because they are so lightweight, but a zip code will help me calculate it better.

My husband got his ringneck at a pet store, and has been really happy with her health and all.  They breed their own and were feeding them a good diet that we continued for the most part.  Really, really depends on the store, and where they source their animals from/how knowledgeable they are.  :)  Some have had the most sickly birds you can imagine though.

Mary of Exeter has some great birds.  :D

That he bought her from Gunnar? Sure do, but it is local only (not a chain).
