my 3 year old Silver pied male fanning!

I see that you live east where it gets colder what do you do for their housing in the winter. This is my first year and I only have one I have an igloo dog house for this winter very large. Do I need to put it up on something? He has been happy all summer on the thick branches I krisskrossed for him. But can see he will being needing more. Everyone who I asked tells me a 3sided open horse house just so they are out of the weather but they all live in Texas and warmer areas. So it doesn't seem enough when your talking 3or 4 ft drifts. Ihave put up some bamboo wind breaks and his pen has a roof. and I don't right now have time to put in a big coop. I guess I am asking for the future. Thanks. When I picked Picasso I wanted and indian blue now after seeing yours I wish I had picked a pied he beautiful.

@nickel chick I see you live in north west IL - you might ask @frenchblackcopper for advice on this, he's in E-central IL....Or @RuzichFamily , in W-central IL...

I have a whole bunch of old christmas trees in my pen for brush and windbreak as well as a big dog house with an overhanging roof that the birds can get under if need be. The pea's never go into the dog house (its huge, got from a guy that kept 3 St. Bernards in it) even in the worst weather but will get under the awning. Most of the time they just perch outside and are happy as can be. During any winter storm I always get worried but they seem content next to the turkeys! If you have a 3 sided shed and put a perch in there I think you'll be fine. Oh, I also put straw down throughout the winter so they aren't walking on frozen ground 24/7.
