Guinea's & Snakes

I was wondering ... do guinea's really kill snakes????

They sure do.  I've watched them surround a snake in a circle and all take turns pecking at it until it was dead.  I've even seen them go after a big snake but they couldn't kill it but they sure pestered it until it slithered away.  ep.gif

X2.

They'll kill the little snakes and then run around playing keep away from each other with it like it's some (bloody) mangled prize, lol. And they'll usually make a major commotion when they find the larger ones. Which gets my dogs howling and my donkey braying. I'll go locate where they are and dispatch the snake myself just so it quiets down here, lol. And I usually have a gang of Guineas following me/cheering me on to make sure I did it right, lol.

Not all Guineas will kill snakes tho, some just rubberneck at them and give them a wide birth. It really depends on the specific flock's temperament and level of defensiveness. My full-time free rangers are more aggressive towards snakes than my breeder flocks that only free range part-time are.
