I hang them just high enough where I can look into them. If you have snake or preadator problems you could use a metal pole so they cant get in. I dont here so I put my boxes on my pen frame. My boxes are 2ft tall and 1fft wide.  Also it seems like treeducks like a 6 inch hole to use. Where as my woodies like a 4inch one better. I also put hardware cloth on the inside of the openings so everyone can get out easier. Hope this helps.

You dont hang a nest box for white faced tree ducks, they like ground boxes or tall grass.

Thats right about the whitefaced treeducks. Thanks for catching that Mark! The only ones that have ever used boxes off of the ground for me are the black-bellied treeducks. And even then only a coupla times. My Cubans are nesting in a ground box with a 12 inch mouse hole opening. Only two eggs though. Thats all she layed for her first time. I have been eating all the fulvous and wild mallard eggs cause I dont want anymore. My white faced are only 1 year old so I doubt I will get eggs this year.  One time a while back I had first year birds have babies. That is very rare in the white-faced.

Also, I have an apricot wood duck hen and a spit silver male and a regular male ( reg hen flew the coop.. Need to get another)... What would I get if any hatched?

I have Fulvous Tree Duck Pairs still for sale.

if your woodies mix you are going to have some crazy looking birds.. lol with the split to silver male you are more than likely going to get regular looking or apricot babies. the split may or may not have the gene and I think it is the female that can produce more offspring carrying a color gene
