I don't seem to have any problem walking away from the chicks at the feed store (the hardest part is dragging the 3 year old away).  I know that they come from hatcheries, and if at all possible I try to buy only from mom and pop breeders who are just trying to  make ends meet selling little stuff from the home here and there.

I would if I could.  I can't store enough feed for the horses to make it all the way through "chick days" at the feed stores though!  Been really good, look at the chicks, smile at them and walk away.  I know someone else will buy them.  I do have to bite my tounge and not say anything about the "Ameraucana" and "Araucana" chicks though.  I know they are all just EE's.   wink.png

smile.png It took me several weeks and lots of internet pictures to convince my DH that our EE's were not Araucana or Ameraucana's.  "That's what it said on the label, that's what they are" Says my sweet hubby. he.gif

My Royal Palm eggs are on their way (well they will be on Monday anyway).

Hehe, everytime I type or say royal palm I think of the scene in "Liar, Liar" where Jim Carry is trying to say the pen is red instead of blue and finally says "Royyyyyyyaaaaaalllll BLUE!"

I know I know I am a bit odd!  My family tells me this often :)

Are you kidding me? I nearly had a panic attack today when boyfriend told me he almost got me a 6 pack of banties at TSC when he was out. His excuse? My showgirls need friends. idunno.gif

(Note: the showgirls are holding their own in the big chicken coop with 41 other chickens. They hardly need friends).

The good news is he was out at TSC to get materials for yet another coop (grow out pen).

He's also aware of the soon to be coming turkeys but I think he believes that all of them will be going to Camp Kenmore this fall. Depends on how many I hatch. Muwahahahaaaa. *rubs hands together maniacally*

I would laugh my butt off if DH came home with chicks because the chickens at home needed buddies.  lau.gif  I still have to explain the extra incubator to him before he gets home next weekend.  I really don't think I am going to be able to clear out enough eggs to get it empty before the hatch.

I hatched all six eggs that Denny sent me last year.  We ate two, one had to be put down because of a bad leg (I think she hurt it jumping down off something) and lost one tom to a coyote (that is when I did the hack job on Lurkey's feathers, if anyone is going to eat my birds it is going to be me).  We kept the last two for eggs this spring.  Now I also will have to explain the additional turkey eggs that I am getting from thebirdguy to DH.  He knows how many I have now and how many I am sending you and I know he can do simple math sooooooooooooo I will have to tell him about the extras.  wink.png

ETA - oooooooooooor maybe I could tell him that Lurkey went into this CRAZY egg laying FRENZY.  That might work until the poults hatch.  They are going to be different colors.  OOOOOOOOOOOOOh even better, maybe I could sell him on a wild turkey tom getting in an mating with her. lau.gif

What incubator...........you mean the hatcher you got because the turkey eggs will have to be staggered since you only have one hen?

Whuuu?????? I only have double the amount of eggs incubating right now than he knows about.  You don't think I can sell him on an idea such as the eggs multiplied in the bator (human eggs do it, it's how you get twins) so I had to buy the second bator "HATCHER" (must remember to call it that) tongue2.gif wink.png
