My kids loved it. I loved reading to them. I have a very animated reading style and they love to read as much as I- which is very gratifying.

I almost got sucked into being gritchy earlier. I will not apologize for my egg prices. Snarky comments by folks who have no clue what time and money goes into my eggs can shop else where, and I'll blissfully break even without them just fine! :) If he wants a cheap dozen, I'm not about to tell him not to buy them. Have at 'em!

Carefully stepping down and away from the soap box, rummaging around for chocolate, as it's clearly about to be chocolate-o' clock!

Shawn, sending $.

What else/who else have I forgotten in my Mad Hatter state of late?

I swear I'd lose it all if it wasn't for a darling dear hubby o'mine. I'm taking a herd of FBCM, Orp, Wheaten Am, and Konza dudes to the neighbor who will drive them to the processing facility come dawn. I hate this part. I want to keep them all. I will have adult beverages following the drop-off, and chicken soup tomorrow to sooth my soul and thank them for their services.

Oh, and I moved the 8 most promising turkey eggs and the 2 good-looking goose eggs to the rcom for worry-free incubation. It's the best there is, and I need it!!

I loved reading If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Goodnight Moon to my kids.  My son loved Toad on the Road and it was the first book he read by himself.  I loved Dr. Seuss when I was a kid although I never liked Hop on Pop.  I always thought it was mean to hop on pop.  wink.png  Loved the Richard Scarry books too and the Berenstain Bears.  Of course as I got older it was Madeleine L'Engle, Tolkien, Piers Anthony, Steven Donaldson and Steven King.

My youngest has recently moved on leaving Dr. Seuss behind. This is the last year he will celebrate Dr Suess week at school.  Of course our house is wall to wall books, hence I often lose library books. Figure they will show up some day. I never throw a book away and often find good books at the Salvation Army or yard sales.

And then there were 5. I candled and of the 11 eggs I set, 5 are still good. 1 from Zookeeper and 4 from Lotsapaints. Thanks, you two.

I candled tonight to recheck the chicken eggs set with the turkey eggs; wish the air cell was a little more developed in some.

TUrkey eggs have a better developed aircell than the chicken eggs. Maybe I need to swap locations.

Tried to make a lego platform to raise the marans eggs up to the same height as the eggs in cartons, only my boys don't have the platform style pieces. So I cut down an egg carton and set the eggs on their sides. Some of these eggs are round on both ends, hoping for an air cell soon to I can set them properly.

ANd now, I need some chocolate . . .

Dr Seuss is great, but I lean more towards Shel Silverstein.  My son is nearly 32, but they are still on my bookshelf.  That's my sense of humor.

And my 11 turkey eggs have been reduced to 4 sad.png

Deb

The difference between breakfast and chicks, is the temperature you use to "cook" the eggs!

What breeds do I have?  More than any sane person would own.

I bought a number of Shel SIlverstein's book back when I was in my early 20's. The giving Tree I still think of when I look at trees. My 10 year isn't ready to understand yet . . . . hoping someday he will.
