Congratulations on the chick, very cute.

I'm hoping to see some in a couple of days, I have six silkie & three showgirl eggs due to hatch the day before the turkeys.

My serama eggs go into lockdown (as soon as the hatcher comes up to temp).  This is my second attempt at hatching serama (I was told their eggs don't ship well).  Anyway, my first attempt was 11 eggs, six to lockdown.............nothing even pipped.  This time I set 17 eggs (one broke in shipping) and I have 9 going into lockdown

At least I have a backup plan this time.  I was given a group of serama after a local chicken meet, they just started to lay again and I have two eggs saved up so far.

Well 10 is common. Not sure about 11. I had a chick that I bought last year that had 9 toes... it was delicious.

I did love the "rooster crowing" picture someone had a few years back with a silkie stew.

Told my daughter that they have black bones.  She was surprised. 

Sold ten more chicks today.  I don't have to sell any more!    I did sell them the two I wanted to keep because I liked their color but I could always hatch more.

I'm looking over the chicks and guess I'll list a few on CL. Have some mixed banty boys that look like miniature versions of other breeds that I'm not sure what to do with...wouldn't even make a snack!

 

I'll be moving some of my flocks around to different runs and coops tonight as I've changed up some of the projects. I'd also like to make a couple of breeding coops with little runs for some pairs I want to focus on.

Renee, since your ability to feel pain is poor, I would very strongly suggest that you get those toes x-rayed. Pain is the primary test, but since that is not an effective test in your situation, please  have them checked out. You don't need to hear crunching to have broken toes.  Been there, done that. Broken toes need support to heal; and healing is a very long process since they are used for walking. I would rather break my arm again ( healed in 3 weeks) than break a toe again. So please . . .
