First Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon- Join us! Set Day: Easter - Page 33

I have 4 emu eggs in one bator (due to hatch May 4th & 5th if they are any good).. 13 turkey eggs with 3 mutt chicken eggs in a second bator.. 45 quail eggs in a third bator with 27 more quail eggs in a 4th bator.. the turkey eggs for May 5th will have to hitch a ride with some of the quail eggs.. I think...

plus I have 17 turkey poults due to be here the end of April that I ordered from Porters...

And I though I was bad.  I did have an eye awakening moment today when DH said, you know you have just doubled your chicken population (and not all of them had hatched yet) lau.gif

BTW Deb thank you again for that compatibility hint.  It has just saved me all the frustration I have been going through for the past two days.  Posting back to normal!

I'm so sorry!  I checked this morning and it said they were in Des Moines, I thought for sure you would have them!

I still need to clean out bator from Easter Hatch . . . better get on that. LOL  Guess I'll put the 2 pheasant eggs that aren't due until Monday in brooder under heat lamp while I do that.  Or maybe I should wait until Monday after pheasants hatch (if they hatch).    Thinking Smiley Code    Would it still be a Cinco de Mayo hatch???

Yeah, right now I'm kind of stuck.  I have three Genesis 1588.  Two of them have 39 eggs split between them for the Easter hatch.  The third has 11 Lakenvelder eggs going into lockdown tonight.  One of the first two needs to finish up by tomorrow so I can set the 11 turkey eggs.

And then someone needs to slap me, I have 5-6 dozen chicken eggs being shipped to me from three different sources on Monday.

I need someone to stop me!!!!!!!!!!  My DH is an enabler, he just keeps building coops/runs.

Deb

Deb - smack.gif  Do you feel better now?   lau.gif    I just ordered a dozen SLW to arrive next Friday or Saturday, and my DH is saying "Where you going to put THOSE?  There is no more room in the coop!"  Unfortunately (or fortunately), I only have one bator.  Can you post some pictures of pens and runs.  We need some inspiration - Quickly!!    Animated Laughing Smiley

Not much is alive out there right now to bite me... in fact it's snowing again. I was outside for about 4 hours this morning, it was 34 and windy, my fingers were numb. Then outside again about an hour later doing chores, numb fingers again. I could have whacked them against something hard and not really felt it.

The irony is now I've been icing my finger (well fingers, since I can't just ice the one effectively) for the rest of the evening while sitting in front of the stove. And watching a terrible movie. Thank goodness it's over now.

Oh well at least I got my eggs set! ... if I'm as bad as Dar at least I'm in good company. And I'm so terribly excited about this hatch, even about the stupid silkies, and I used to not even like silkies until I hatched PigPen (the showgirl) for New Years. Remember my banties need buddies.

I am embarrassed to admit I, too, didn't even like silkies until my friend HHandbasket hatched a few.

Silkies were too odd looking, in pictures, for me to consider them "chickens."  Every photo I saw, I just shrugged.  Poofy, frou-frou looking things.  What's all the hype about those?

But alive and right in front of me, walking around, chirping happily, interacting with HHandbasket and Farmer Lew, and I fell in love.

I managed to hatch three of them back around New Year's Day, but not actually as part of the NYD Hatch.  A Buff, a Black, and a .....   mottled one.  They're really cute.  Not terribly bright, but really, really cute.

I put my turkey eggs on hold.  I still have 42 eggs in the bator for Mahonri's Easter Hatch and no signs of hatching.  No peeps, no pips, no wigglers, no nuttin'.  I am going to give them a day or three and will not be able to start the turkeys with you guys.  Truthfully, if I don't get any chicks from these eggs, I may never try hatching again......
