I guess they wanted to be Easter ducks, and Birthday ducks (it's my birthday today too, I am now officially 30).

My hubby really doesn't want any peacocks because of their noise level soooooo I plan on hatching the turkeys then try to reason with him that at least they aren't peacocks lau.gifgig.giflau.gifhugs.giflove.gif

How do we handle shipped turkey eggs? THe same as chicken eggs?

Yes same way. big_smile.png

I don't know about turkey eggs being "unreliable" on their timing.  Last year when I set the six for the Easter hatch, I had one hatch on Thursday before Easter.  The rest of them hatched out with the chicks.  I have only hatched them once so I don't know if this is "normal".  28 days seems to be right.  The one that hatched early, hatched during a power outage so I came home to a cooled of incubator and a poult that was very lethargic.  I was frantic.  Luckily DH remembered that we have a 110 outlet in our car.  We plugged the bator in and it warmed up.  The poult got a lot more active and then the power went back on.  I was so relieved.  Anyway, just set 27 turkey eggs.  12 Lurkey (BR) and the other 15 half Black Spanish half ROYAL PUPLE PALMS.  Can't help myself, I giggle every time I say it.  So stoked to see the babies and we just set them.  wink.png

Royal Purple Palm sound lovely!

When I picked up my eggs from Denny (lotsapaints), she told me she finds the incubation on turkeys to be more like 27 days.

As far as age (three+ decades past 25 here), I've always said, if you're going to lie about your age, say you're older.  People will look and say, "You look great, you don't look anywhere near ___".  If you lie and say you are younger, they are going to think "What the h__l happened to them?"

The difference between breakfast and chicks, is the temperature you use to "cook" the eggs!

What breeds do I have?  More than any sane person would own.

cmfarm - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Looks like I won't be setting today, 6 pipped ducks left for the Easter hatch-a-long, and 1 in the process of what I guess is a duck zip, they don't seem to zip as quickly as chicks.

Chickens : YES!

Dogs: Siberian Husky, Schipperkee, and 2 Icelandic Sheepdogs

Goats: A small, fun herd of Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Yeah, I'll be late, too.  I woke up to 13 hatched chicks and since then there have been two more, so my Easter Hatch is right on time (for actual Easter Sunday).  I want to put all the turkey eggs into one incubator but there are two wet chicks and several more eggs in it.

Buncha Outdoor PET chickens, ducks, two Toulouse ganders, and four turkeys. Plus 2 wiener dogs, some bunnies and a rescue cat which owns me. Oh. And a house silkie....

And then someone needs to slap me, I have 5-6 dozen chicken eggs being shipped to me from three different sources on Monday.

I need someone to stop me!!!!!!!!!!  My DH is an enabler, he just keeps building coops/runs.

Deb

Hope you left room, I send extras!

DH mentioned the wild turkeys were the focus of my BR toms this morning. Haven't seen wild turkeys for a number of years. Nice to know they are surviving the constant building.
