Everybody's in!

That is so cute! Especially if that's Lurkey on the righthand side there... Looks kinda similar to when I go get the mail, although the majority of the flock loses interest once they get to "new scratching ground." Only Hoppy follows me all the way to the mailbox.

Yes except you missed the part where I have to chase the idiots around the fence a couple of times before they can find the opening for the gate. They're like little stupid roadrunners, they figure out how to get out then spend all day circling the fence line trying to get back in. They'll run paranoid past the open gate if I chase them too close. I used to have bright red traffic cones I put on either side of the gate door, that helped most of them but I had a few unfortunately stupid ones that were petrified of the cones.

Coming right up! Note to self - order SCG BLUE set

I think it is Tom in the picture.  Lurkey might have been in the small white coop laying.

Okay, I'm setting eight eggs TONIGHT and the other ones at my mail drop IN WEST SACRAMENTO later this week.  As Debiraymond would say, "Craptastic."

Buncha Outdoor PET chickens, ducks, two Toulouse ganders, and four turkeys. Plus 2 wiener dogs, some bunnies and a rescue cat which owns me. Oh. And a house silkie....

Either way it's pretty hilarious. It took me a while to figure out what was "wrong" with the picture, why there was a giant chicken on the right side.

I got offered a baby boy goat today by a coworker. You'll be very proud of me that I declined.

See? Proof that I still have some sanity.

We finished the cold frame yesterday, started the veggie hoophouse. BF says after the hoophouse we're going to have to renegotiate wages and benefits. I hope he doesn't unionize, I still need my chicken hoophouse finished.

For some reason, I have been able to abstain from goats pretty easy.  Mostly because I hear they get into everything.  I don't need to have a pet that just frustrates me and creates work for me.  I have had to find work arounds for my three year old filly, Allie.  Every "safety measure" I have in the barn is because of her.  I am going to have to get rubber mats mounted to her stall walls next because apparently I don't feed them fast enough (as in as soon as she wants breakfast).  If it doesn't take thumbs, she has figured out how to do it.

I got my eggs from Denny and Leslie today. woot.gif
I'm going to set them in the carton and start turning in a few days. I got 4 RP, 1 BR, and 1 X from Denny and 5 from Leslie (BR Tom over BR, RP and Black Spanish hens). Thanks you two.

I agree mrheinz, I love being a part of the big hatches but these little group ones are nice as well.  You don't have to take an hour just to get caught up and if you have a question, it probably won't get lost in the posts.

barnie.gif I still have 1 pheasant egg (well 2 but I'm sure one is toast) in the bator.  It was pipped early this morning, but has made very little progress all day.  I keep tapping on the top, clucking, peeping and saying "Hurry UP!  I have turkey eggs to set!!!"  My son said "That's not nice, how would you liked to be rushed when you're trying to get out of your shell?"   Gee-sh, if this pheasant is as slow as my son, it's not going to hatch until Memorial Day!  LOL

By the way, I am also officially 30  ( x2 ).   hide.gif

These are the chicks I hatched for Easter, and the front three are my Araucanas from Ray-n-Debi.  I didn't have as good a hatch as I would have liked, but at least I ended up with six adorable little chicks (and maybe 1 pheasant).  The one in the front right corner is sitting in my lap right now, and I've named her Easter Buddy.   (This was my BUD egg, Debi.  gig.gif)
