First Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatchathon- Join us! Set Day: Easter

SCG the toms tread on their backs until everything is just right. I wouldn't recommend this to you though. ;-)

I just downloaded 3 turkey call apps. Hopefully there's a sexy tom on one of them.
Try the one that is done by "Tom Jones".........

Well, it's done! I've got a thread for our Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Hatchathon.

Go pop in and let us know if you are joining us.

I'm getting 2 turkey eggs a day, now! I have 7 hens, so while I'm not sure who's laying, I know it's unlikely they are pure. I have a trio of BR, a trio of RP, and then a Blue Spate, a White and a Bronze. They're all about the same age, so who knows!?

When I met up with TheBirdGuy to trade eggs a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned this weird behavior one of my hens was having, and he started laughing...she thought I was the handsomest tom in the group, apparently...

I did tell them how beautiful they were and rubbed their back. Most women would really enjoy that. Not these hard to please hussies.

Hello!

I want to give an update on a 2012 Cinco De Mayo hatchling. My Bourbon Red pair that I raised from the HAT in 2012 went to live at a farm belonging to a man that I see once in awhile around our small town (pop 2400). Today he told me that "Tom" had an adventure, earlier this month, involving a young dog which resulted in him losing tail feathers and receiving a large gash. Jack called to see if he could get a vet to look at Tom and brought him to the Polo Animal Hospital in Polo, IL. He was treated by Dr. Roberts and sent home with some medications. Dr. Roberts warned Jack that she did not feel that Tom had much of a chance for survival but was very impressed that Tom was a model patient in the clinic. Jack told me that Tom is now out of his treatment area and is outside free ranging and seems to be fine. Jack stopped by to let Dr. Roberts know how much he appreciated her attention and care of Tom and told her how he was doing. She said they had changed their facebook page include a picture of Tom and have several hits and likes since doing so. "He is our favorite new patient" she said. I told Jack that Tom is fortunate to have him as family and that the BYC family would be happy to hear that there are good vets like Dr. Roberts that come to the aid of turkeys in need.
....as for the BR hen that is his mate, she is sitting on a nest at the moment.....

Glad to here Tom is on the mend and soon to be a daddy. What a nice home you found for him.

ON the new HAT I was asked if I wanted new clothes, and well, I love my blue eggs too much to trade them in for new duds. Sure enjoy looking at them . . . . . and I've lost count of the number of PMs asking if they are EE eggs.

I wish!

I have to admit that I smile each time I see your posts! Robin's egg blue is the goal for so many chicken lovers!

Tom and Henny have the best home ever!

Not many people would go to the time or expense to take a turkey to a vet. I'm so happy Jack has them and that I get to hear updates ever now and then.
