First Chick!

So, some of you might have seen my previous thread- basically saying that the eggs were close to hatching but had been left for a day or so without heat. People said that they may/may not hatch.

Well.. one hatched this morning!!! I'm so excited big_smile.png

wow! i'm so happy for you! that's a great story! and one i can learn from! cute lil guy (or girl hopefully? lol).

Haha thanks! Yeah we're kinda hoping its female. My mom didn't think they would hatch, and we wanted two more chickens to complete our group so she's gone and ordered two ex battery hens. Now they're hatching though... oops. My gran might take the batterys if she can persuade my grandad!

 

Note: can anyone tell what breed it is? The eggs are light green/blue and small-ish and the chick is as above, pale yellow with a brown/black freckly neck and a bright yellow head.

wow! that's great! i've always wanted some battery hens but can't find anywhere near me! :(

Unfortunately the mom sat on it and it died :'( We gave up on the other eggs- broke them and they were dead. A friend has given us two gorgeous chicks though, so I hope they survive!
