looks for a black spot/dot (that is the chick developing) also should be able to see veining. However in brown eggs it is harder to see. I saw 3 had the black spot. My eggs are brown so it is hard.

ABSOLUTELY!!!
GLAD TO HAVE YA ALONG!!!
What kind of eggs do have in the incubator???

I candled some of my 23 eggs at 8pm and can see veining in a couple of the silkie eggs and 1 of my cochin eggs YAY!!!!! There was a definite blood ring in 1 of them so I pitched it. Now will wait til day 10 to be sure on the rest of them. Temp holding steady at 100 and humidity between 35 and 40 %. Did fire up an old LG still air at 3 pm today and still waiting on temps to stop fluctuating. I have 2 aquarium thermos in the bottom of it reading 97 but the thermo on the top says 101. Going to leave it alone until morning and see what it says then. Have 45 barnyard mix eggs to put in it if it acts right. Anyone else candle ? Hope everyone is still progressing. Come on chickies !!!!!
Sounds like you have a good hatch going!!!!!!! I can't wait to see how many babies we all end with!!! Ok, mine is easy, since I only have 4 eggs in
I
I put them in Sunday 3/18 @ 3:00pm. Like I said I only candled about 6-7 of them and 1-2 had veins. 3-4 had nothing and 2-3 just had real dark spots on on half the egg? Like the small end that was pointing down is this just where the yolk settled by the egg always pointing down? Please help! thanks

Ok, the 1-2 with veins are good! The 2-3 with dark spots are good! still early so the 3-4 with nothing, give a few more days. I have my eggs on their side. Are yours in a carton in the incubator? How do you have them?
Nice variety on the Silkies!! I hope you have an AWESOME hatch rate and get overun with chicks!!

smchickfarm~I'm using a 1588 Genesis Hova-Bator. I also fired up one of my Sportsmans yesterday as well to set some eggs in.

awesome!!!!
I see you have coronation sussex!!!!! Love the breed. I had speckled for awhile. I have one coronation egg that the breeder gave me . It is in the bator, however, when I candled last night, it didn't look fertile.
My 3 lavender orp eggs look good though!

I would remove a plug. I have the new hovabator too, it has been quite a challenge.
